I bought this bass from OldHorseMurphy two months ago: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=134812

I've added a Fishman BP100 pickup, which cost me £50 from eBay and sounds fine through an appropriate pre-amp.

I've spent my time starting the process of learning to play DB, and I actually gigged it for the first time on Saturday (Greenford Carnival) to the huge enjoyment and satisfaction of, well, me anyway. :)

My plan was to spend the next two months hopefully improving on DB before I play the Brentford Festival on 4th September, and then Clarky goes and puts his Zeller up for sale. Premature Upright-auction is a terrible thing.

My DB is an ideal starter instrument, fully functional and perfectly capable of gigging. It is NOT mint - there are a number of scrapes to the varnish and one repaired nasty knock, see the previous For Sale topics for details - but you're unlikely to find a better DB at this price.

It comes in a canvas carry-bag, basically a completely unpadded gig-bag made of the same material as army kit-bags. It will keep off dust and light showers, and protect against little knocks as you carry the bass through a doorway, but that's about it.

I can separate the DB and the pickup BUT only if the DB sells first ...

So that's DB @ £230, Pickup @ £50, or buy both for £250.

Jack, shall we form a support group?

isn't that what Beedster meant? :)

So which of his two Ricks do you want, Jack, fretted or fretless? :)

Exactly, Clarky and I already have a support group, I was just suggesting you join Jack?

And I'm really enjoying the fretted Ric, wish I tried one year ago :)
