I bought this bass new from Tony Rowlinson at the Rhythm House on Hillgate in Stockport when turned pro in 1980. It came in a hard case and had strap fittings that I'd never seen before! Since then until now it's been loved and played and I've never looked at another bass! We've been all over the world together and I met my wife Gina in a band through the Martin. It's kept me fed and in work, so I owe it a lot. But the time has come for the parting of the ways. We've just opened a theatre in Manchester and funds are needed for this new venture, so I've decided to pass this great and pretty rare bass on to someone who will play it. I'm told that only about a thousand were made, which is a shame, but I can't find another one for sale anywhere, so I'm guessing people who own them hang on to them! It's made of maple and mahogony with brass and chrome fittings and an early DiMarzio pickup. The bridge says 'badass' on it and it stays in tune for ever! I used it most of the time with a OHM 300w amp and a 15" in a small cab. It's coped with everything from rock to blues, jazz and reggae and I've never heard another bass that sounds like it. I'm asking £1,200.00 plus shipping. If anyone is interested, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions. I think the site is great! Andy from Forsyths in Manchester put me on to it. If you fancy having a play on the old girl, she's in Johhny Roadhouse on Oxford Road in Manchester. Low frequency still rules!

Thanks. It's great to play, if a little on the heavy side. Jumping around on stage with it used to keep me fit! Now I've got middle age spread!
