rockpig
I've used all of these in the past. David Dyke is probably the best as he has been supplying tonewoods for 30 odd years. http://www.lmii.com/ Luthiers mercantile an american company very broad range. http://www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk/ based in the north of England, range can be a bit limited got some spectacluar burl maple off them one time. http://www.luthierssupplies.co.uk/ David Dyke see above. http://www.tonewood.ca/ Canadian checkout there website for some stunning figured timbers. http://www.guitartonewoods4luthiers.co.uk/ UK based very quick got a maple back and sides set of them, bought lowest grade figure and it had a stunning flame across the sides and a very nice flame to the back as well. http://www.stewmac.com/ does some woods but is more of a specialist tools shop. hope this helps. JPJ
I've just purchased some 0.7mm quilt maple veneer from www.rosebudveneer.com in Kentucky USA. Excellent quality product (no voids or splits) great figure (better than the ebay pictures!) and delivered in 6 days.
Truckstop
+1 on finding a source yourself Plenty of Foresters and Tree Surgeons keep offcuts to sell mega cheap. If you ask them nicely they might even cut it to size for you. I've got plenty of wood from the English Garden and Tree Co. in South Mimms before. Probably not the most amazing quality, but it's cheap and good for practicing. Truckstop
