Up for a reluctant sale is my gorgeous Spector CRFM5, it is a 2001 model which means it has solid quilted maple wings, USA rock maple centre core/neck and the full Brass bridge which makes it a lot closer to the USA custom jobs than the current EURO LX model , it has a natural oil finish showing off the beautiful grain pattern, the fretboard is rosewood with mother of pearl crown inlays and has a 35" scale neck (i suspect this may be one of the first 35 inchers) with a 17mm string spacing.
The original Aguilar preamp was replaced by the previous owner with and East U retro deluxe preamp which we all know is the ultimate on board pre however as the pickups are EMG DC 40's and are active the passive rolloff on the pre doesnt work (if you turn it all the way down, it does kill all the treble for a massive wooley dub tone though), i have spoken to John East who explained the passive tone in the U retro isnt designed to work with EMG'S, so really the preamp is exactly the same as a standard retro
The addition of the East does make this a versatile beast, i play a lot of musical theatre and its covered most styles easily with a bit of tweaking, the core sound is very clear and focused as you would expect from an all maple bass but can produce a lot of bottom end, and unlike standard spectors the mids are well catered for with the semi parametric Mid Eq.

Condition wise its in very good condition its previous owner has looked after it very well, a few very small dings here and there, and a tiny one in the fretboard about 17th fret when my daughter tried to play slap bass with a book :) it will be shipped in a full aluminium warwick flightcase, but i am not willing to ship overseas sorry!!!

I am wanting £900 + POSTAGE!! i will however entertain 5 string (Early yamaha TRB5 a preference) or EUB( wav 4) trades with cash my way!!! let me know what you have,

Thanks for looking some much better pics can be found on the Spector porn thread, , any questions please PM me

As the previous owner of this wonderful bass, (only sold, along with other guitars, and my beloved car, due to two failed endowment policies) I can vouch for its versatility. It was bought for me by my wife as a birthday present, so selling it was painful I can tell you.

This bass has a lovely focussed sound. The bottom end is earth moving and it has a cutting top and, with the U-retro East pre-amp fitted, everything in between is possible. Although it probably didn't really need it, it has had a professional setup, including fret stoning, and plays beautifully. I have treated it with great care.

And Lee is a very decent chap to deal with so buy with total confidence.

Frank.

Thanks Frank
He's right it plays like a dream, nice slim neck(you dont even notice the 35" scale) and the frets are perfect, very easy to play, and sounds fantastic, as i said this was going to be a reluctant sale and after doing "hairspray" last week with it, im kinda resolved to keep it, im going to give it a week then im keeping it. :)

HA HA i know its typical, i was in a dilemma when i bought this at the time i was deciding between this an Overwater perception 5 and Gwylim was selling a lovely Amber TRBP mk1 ( for a hugely bargain price) dont regret buying the Spector though as its fantastic, but the Yammy was a good un!!
