ash Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) Its one of my lovely old Gibson Grabbers, this one is a 70s one with maple neck. The scratchplate has been replaced as the original was warped although I have kept the slider assembly. The bass was refinished black rather roughly but looks fine given the bass is well gigged! There are dings a plenty but no cracks or anything nasty and the truss rod is fine. Plays and sounds great, through body strung, nice weight. Gone! cocco Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Grabbers are awesome! If you've never owned one you need to
ash Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 Yep I will always keep a Grabber in my collection of basses.
ash Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 I thought I was being artful with the greenery....here it is again and with it's sibling (the natural one is NOT for sale however and neither is the Wasp synth). [attachment=84452:IMGP2148.JPG] [attachment=84451:IMGP1913.JPG]
spinynorman Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 This looks like the same black respray as the Ripper I bought from Ash. In which case, it's a simple, though messy job to take the black off with paint stripper, leaving the original clear nitro, which the stripper won't touch. After that it really just needs polishing up and you've got a very nice natural Grabber at a bargain price.
