Wil Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) Reverse offset basses are pretty cool, I reckon. I once owned a Mockingbird which had the curious effect of making you feel like a rock god as soon as you strapped it on (it was too pointy for me however, in the end). I'd quite like another reverse offset design, but the only ones I can think of are the Gibson Thunderbird (lower horn too bulbous), RD Artist (too expensive/rare), Explorer (too pointy), BC Rich Mockingbird (same) and First Act Delgada (horrific headstock). So, as you can see, I'm a fussy bastard. Are there any other notable, mass produced reverse offset basses? Edited July 9, 2011 by Wil Quote
dc2009 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I'm just going to write this post, without any information, as you know what im gonna say Quote
Geddys nose Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Overwater Artisan,Status B2 not general production basses but you can get Artisan's quite cheap (When they turn up) Quote
higgins666 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 How about a Demonator, or Spire? But maybe they're abit too pointy? Demonator: We're recording our next CD next week, & I'm popping into see the guys at Dean UK while I'm down in London, so if I get to try one of the new Entwistle basses, I'll let you know how they play & feel. KK Jale Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Fret-King do two… blue labels series Esprit 4 or green label Europa IV. http://www.fret-king.com/europaiv_spec.html Quote
Dread Bass Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I am not up with the whole John Enwhitle bass history but isnt that Dean just a copy of an Alembic? Quote
John Schoen Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Yes, it looks somewhat like an Alembic Exploiter. When you think about it, this one is a real Exploiter because they are trying to cash in on the name of a dead legend. Quote

Wil Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Those fretkings look interesting. I love SBVs, theyre a bit bonkers. Quote
MoonBassAlpha Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 The FretKing looks like a Firebird that might just balance properly. I like what they've done there. I love the Yamahas too, As rightly stated, a bit bonkers, in a totally good way1 Quote

Both of which I thought of before reading the thread. Thinks of new online acronym; RTFTFBR Read The F'ing Thread First Before Replying. Nice to see a bit of a consensus forming, though! Edited July 10, 2011 by Lfalex v1.1 Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 And I now want a lefty SBV. Rotate that image through 180 degrees.... doesn't fulfil the remit of "Reverse offset", though! Quote
Wil Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 I'd really like an SBV800MF. Rare as hen's teeth though, the only one I can recall seeing up for sale was when Paul C sold off his SBV collection some years ago. Quote

Or build your own if skill allows? Quote
