pete.young
Just been watching some IOW festival stuff on the TV and it appears that the bassist from Kasabian is using a capo. What's all that about, then? I thought it was only our skinny string brethren who needed stuff like that.
Oxblood
I've got one of them. Impulse buy. Thought it might come in handy. It hasn't.
Alun
I use for one for a solo piece but have never needed one for a "proper bass" song. Cheers, Alun
TheRev
I use a capo on a couple of songs that use chords or drone strings under a moving bass line - that's proably what the Kasabian bloke is using it for.
Dood
I noticed that too. The bassline he was playing centred around notes on the second fret. Instead of stretching from those notes up to what looked like a minor third, from each chord root he used the Capo to make life easier, only having to fret the higher notes. Absolutely nothing wrong with using a Capo. Why make life hard eh? **oohh I've spotted an opening for a quick sunday rant! I use a hair band or sweatband round the nut of my bass that I can pull up the neck to make a handy 'mute' when I am playing up the 'dusty end' sometimes. I'm amazed at how many forum posts (mainly on guitar forums) that have said this is to make up for poor technique and is cheating! guffaw guffaw!! **

I might start clipping it onto the headstock of my bass just to see what people say.

warwickhunt
Absolutely any guitar/music shop. Go for the Dunlop, trigger type and if possible to fit a 12 string guitar, as the extra width might help further up the neck of the bass (if you ever actually get to use it). john_the_bass
so they're not bass specific? I've got two dunlop triggers and a trusty shubb. i've never used any of em on the bass though - i assumed that they would have to have a bit extra tension in the spring to hold them firm
