Jamesemt
There's quite a bit of price difference, but would (eventually) like a really sexy Fender Jazz. I understand the methodology behind the NOS, but does it actually play/sound much different?

I've had multiple examples of all 4 and consistency is the main factor The Custom Shop Instruments use better wood stocks and quality is just that bit better. For me the main difference is in the wood, choice selected wood better matured and usually lighter and more resonant. The Relic instruments have a lovely played in feel. This is my milage anyway Hope this helps Mark

E_MaN
I like the reissues as they're not stupid expensive, if you wanna pay the money for a CS I would go for something better than a fender...One point though is the '75 reissue binding doesn't feel as nice as it looks...its bumpy and feels horrible to me!!! It basically convinced me that Fender Japan is the way to go if I want one of those 70's type jazzes (given I can't afford a custom shop or a Sadowsky UV70). One of the reasons (IMHO) that a good original 70's jazz feels so nice to play is the binding is worn in and the bass just feels lush to play !!
