So far Björk, Anathallo and Red Sparowes have been some of the best live performances I can remember.

Björk never fails to leave me gob smacked, and with the most recent show, Biophilia, the bass line to the first song is played by a big massive tesla coil! :)

Edited to add some videos -

Anathallo -

More Anathallo -

Red Sparowes -

Bass related or just in general?

Bass related shenanigans... Mr Big - Addicted to That Rush, live in Budokan 2009. Billy Sheehan is quite a monster bass player...

In general, I love this live version of Steely Dan's Kid Charlemagne. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker sure know how to put a band together... Perfection in my eyes.

I also love this version of Toto's "Rosanna". Lleland Sklar was called out 6 days before the first gig and had to learn the whole set. What a pro, doesn't waver once! Love the arrangement of this live version too.

If I had to single out one song only, for the whole live performance, it would probably be Motorhead, by Motorhead, on No Sleep til Hammersmith.

And as I can`t work out how to actually put the Youtube thingy on, as everyone seems to be able to, here`s the link:

ok - 2 of them, both 'in the studio' performances (in that it's all one take played live (or so I believe)) rather than 'in concert'

Led Zep - In My Time of Dying

Jimi Hendrix Experience - Voodoo Child (long version)

Both 12+ mins, both just amazing performances

Mine would probably be 1 of 2 from the isle of wight festival this year(bear in mind this was my first time ever seeing a band live):
Kasabian performing club foot, shoot the runner and underdog back to back to open their set.
Or
Foo fighters whole set in the saturday night.

It'd be tough, but of ones I've seen I think Blind Guardian playing Lord of the Rings would narrowly pip Amon Amarth playing various things, Maiden playing Hallowed be thy name, as well as Carcass and At the Gates putting on stellar sets. All of whom were close to call between.

My favourite live video? I'll answer that when I'm sober.

I've only ever seen 2 bands live where the audience have been silent during the songs. Red Sparowes and Earth.
Here's another Red Sparowes performance:

And with bass, possible the most...ahem...interestingly dressed YouTube bass player ever posted on here. Fur Dixon, I salute you...

How I miss Lux...

They were such an amazing band to see live...

Man on the silver mountain from Rainbow on stage. Bought the album from Stereo One in Paisley for £8.50 on the 27th of December 1982.

It`s got Ronnie James Dio, Blackmore and Cozy Powell on it. Pure magic even after all these years.
