DazMcC71
Hi Guys and Gals I have recently bought the Ampeg SVT 450H and the first one had to go back because it broke down after 2 mins of being un packed. The second one I had was ordered from a different place and arrived only for me to find that there was an intermittent crackling going on inside the head when the low end notes were played, also when tapped on the top of the box it crackled badly. I am now awaiting my 3rd one and heres to hoping this one doesnt have any problems. Has anyone else encountered this poor quality control from Ampeg, or is it just a turn of bad luck? Shire
I had one. It never went wrong on me although it was nowhere near as loud as its weight suggested! Luckily I got rid of it!
Matt_Arlita
As above- I owned a US-made one for five years without any problems. Apart from breaking off five of the crappy EQ sliders. Sounds like bad luck to me!
thodrik
I would say bad luck. I have been playing through them for years at rehearsal studios never suffering from any problems.
Bassman Sam
My mate's bass player has a problem with his 450 and was has been told it's due to dry solder joints and that it's a common problem now that the amps are being built in China. It would seem that the QC is a bit lax and the tech he spoke to in Edinburgh says that he has repaired 4 or 5 in the last 6 weeks.

Musicman20
I reckon there are quite a few other smaller/lighter amps that will do the same tone (and a lot more) for almost the same price. Can you return it?
