These are uncertain times we are living in and you never know what's coming round the corner...
Agreed.... The company I work for went into voluntary liquidation today, and I've been made redundant. I've been told that they can open up a new company in two weeks and that I'll be paid for my "two weeks off" and should receive some redundancy money sometime, but I'm not holding my breath! Definitely this. Though if you want kit, why not something other than a bass? My wireless system for example is the best thing I've ever bought (Line6 G50). Decent ones are expensive! Truckstop
I'd buy an 80's Fender and keep it for a while. Soon enough, in a few years everyone's gonna want a YOB bass! Truckstop

The last trip, we spent a few hours in a very nice "coffee shop", and tried a couple of house specials WOW!!!
Ross
I had a great adventure, left my mates in a coffee shop to go buy some smokes, ended up paying a tramp to give me a tour, then got some cakes from what he claimed to be the best place for munchies and shared them with him. Had a great conversation about the meaning of life, then went back to my friends still in the coffee shop who thought I'd only been gone like 10 minutes. I was deep fried beyond belief, hill street blues had some insanely strong stuff. Edited July 21, 2011 by Ross
watton_earth
I got a similar bonus recently and blew it all on my new Ric. Best use of the money ever!
Me too. I recently bought a brand spankers 4003 (maple glo if you must know). Some of the bonus went towards the rick but then I also sold all the other basses, bass bits and bobs, kidney etc...(except the 4005 faker of course). The rest of the money's going on the mortgage, as agreed with she who must be obeyed, all 27 pence of it. I have to say that I bought the Rick partly to cure the gas, I was spending altogether far to much time on guitar porn, and not enough on playing.... I fear the effect is short lived... Lifes short, but it's wise to spend only what you can afford. Buy a bass!
TimR
OK. Back to the real world. £1200 bonus. That's £480 to the tax man. The wife will have already spent her half of the £1200 (£600). Leaves you with £120. Welcome to the real world.

I'm sure you will understand that most of the comments on this thread are light-hearted, and we all love and treat our partners well. In fact, I'm taking her out tomorrow to buy a few things, plus a meal and drink afterwards. My sincere best wishes to you.
