Alemboid Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I was sitting in the garage thinking "god, there's far too much stuff in here", when I found this link: http://www.bowlusblog.blogspot.com/ Rather puts things into perspective, don't you think? thumbo Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Oh my! He's got more bass gear than the average bass shop. Quote

It's fair to assume he's scraping by in his day job as a lawyer. B Quote
Tinman Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I'd say he's suffering from OCD That is just downright silly, I bet he's forgotten what's at the back of the pile. Quote
Kiwi Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I think Tom is infamous on Talkbass as a complete gear whore. He's got pretty much every desirable valve bass amp that's been made in the last 20 years, reviews gear for Bass Guitar Magazine and has even been endorsing Sadowsky amps. Not bad for someone whose day job is an attourney, I can only imagine the kind of space he has to store all of that stuff. Quote
warwickhunt Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 That is just plain silly! When I first started reading the list I thought he'd just made up a list of every piece of bass equipment available... until I scrolled down to the shots! Quote
paul, the Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 That's very nice of him to review and compare them. I'll have to have a read through sometime. Nice find. Quote
d-basser Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 sweet bejebus!!!! Looks like there are good reviews there if i can ever read through it all lol Quote
setekh Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 holy cows...is there any piece of good gear he doesnt own? Quote
Dan_Nailed Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 (edited) He doesn't have any Hartke or Laney stuff. Edited June 10, 2007 by Dan_Nailed Quote
alexclaber Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007
Oh my! He's got more bass gear than the average bass shop.
He's got more bass amplification than a very good bass shop! I remember the days when he only had a few basses - an Thunderbird and a cheapish five, plus an upright - but a ton of EA cabs and a few Bergantino cabs. Then he got out of control! He did thin out the collection a while back but like any well timed pruning it grew again, and faster. So which of his basses and rigs would you use if you could only have one? I think I'd have his chambered MTD 5, the Millennia preamp and the Bergantino IP153 cabs. And that would be enough - any more than one bass and rig and I get indecisive! Alex Quote
Kiwi Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I'd probably have his Trace Elliot V8 as I reckon thats the best designed of the valve amps. Don't know anything about those cabs though. I'm so fussy about the value for money that cabs give. I've heard Accugroove and Epifani and been less than impressed. I'm curious about Bergantino - never heard them. Quote

Dood Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 He's a nice approachable chap too! After reading his 'mini cabs shoot out, I droppped him a line to ask about them. I figure one person who has tried practically every cab on the market would have something to say about each! I think his reviews were similar to my own findings. He had a lot of toys to play with!!! Hamster Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Have you seen his Photobucket account - more bass porn than you can wave a microphone stand at! Bass Porn! Yummy! Hamster Quote
EssentialTension Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I understand GAS but I didn't understand that. Quote
JJTee Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Incredible. Any guesses as to how much the whole lot is worth? Quote

slaphappygarry Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 That is obsene Would be interesting to hear his playing in a band now. G Quote
Lee-Man Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Just pointed out to the misses that my GAS could actually be worse! Quote

ShergoldSnickers Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 It certainly puts my gear into perspective. One bass, one combo, one lead, one strap, one soft case, no stand. If he gave me all his stuff it wouldn't make me a better player*. Just popular. *There's plenty of room for improvement. Quote
Tinman Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 (edited) It's great and really useful that reviews the gear but does he have to keep it all? Edited June 11, 2007 by Tinman Quote
