Clarky
For sale here is a 1980s Eko B4 fretless (unlined neck) that I bought recently from Beedster to use in an acoustic spin-off of Rattlin Bone. It currently has a K&K Floating pickup on it which comes very highly recommended on TalkBass http://www.jp-guitars.co.uk/sales/pickups_...ups_archtop.htm and I have bought a Warwick premium acoustic bass gigbag for it http://www.gak.co.uk/en/warwick-rb-20510b-...stic-bass/35549 I also put a brand new set of La Bella black nylon tape wound strings on it. Although this sounds great at low volumes, I have abandoned the idea of using it live with 'RB lite' as I had problems with feedback whenever I pumped up the volume. While I could muck around with packing the body with foam etc to reduce feedback, I think this would be better in someone's hands that plays in an acoustic jazz or similar group. I paid £100 for the bass, £90 for the pickup and £49 for the gigbag. Add in the cost of the new La Bella strings and my total outlay was over £260. I will bundle the lot for £220 but it would have to be collection or meet-up only in London (not got a box and don't trust delivery services with an acoustic instrument) Not got a picture of my bass to hand but it looks exactly like this and is in very good condition: Edited September 8, 2011 by Clarky
Clarky
OK, feeling generous after a great gig yesterday, so its £200 the lot. Can't say fairer than that. If it doesn't sell at this price I will keep it for that rainy day when I might play in a quiet acoustic combo!

It's a unique bass, has a lovely DB-like tone, and unlike nearly every other acoustic bass I've owned, holds its own amongst other acoustic instruments. Tempted to give Clarky a call.... Clarky
You have my number Chris Bump for a nice acoustic bass with all the gear - I forgot to add, the deal gets better, as I also spent £18 on a proper padded strap with quick release mechanism http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/products/12..._strap_44pa000_
Clarky
Bumpity bump. Its not a hardship keeping this at home for quiet playing but I am sure someone out there would really appreciate this - and the price is damn good too (the extras alone cost close to my asking price and are all less than 2 months old)
Gareth Hughes
Damn that Irish Sea!!! If it weren't for the fragility of such a pretty thing I'd say 'Box the thing and to hell with the odds!!!' but that would be foolish. And make me sound like I was in Blackadder Goes Forth. Ergo - BUMP!!!!
Clarky
Back up! I am just not using it. So it's £200 collected (from London) for the bass, pickup, gig bag and strap. Bargain deal
Clarky
Straight to the top, as Tom Waits would say
Beedster
This really is a very good bass for the jazzier folkier end of things, and served me well as a pretty close approximation of a DB for rehearsals when carrying the big guy wasn't an option. I paid for the bass alone what Clarky is selling it for with all the extras, so this is also a bloody good deal for someone (although be quick as Clarky, like myself, is somewhat mercurial about these things)! Clarky
Thanks Chris. For a jazzer (esp a gypsy jazzer) or folkie this is a cracking setup for not a huge outlay
Clarky
Bump. This would work nicely with the Markbass MicroMark combo I am selling. I would bundle the two for a good price if anyone is interested? £400 for both, saving £50 big ones
Clarky
The Markbass Micromark combo has sold separately so its back to the Eko bass plus gigbag, strap, La Bellas and K&K pickup for the far-from-princely sum of 200 of your finest English pounds. Unfortunately it remains pickup/collect only as I do not trust the likes of Parcelforce/Interparcel with this
Clarky
Here's a pic of the actual bass. PS If meeting in London is a problem I could always bring the bass along to the South-East BassBash on 24th Sep??? Clarky
Is there no London-based DB player that needs a practice-friendly (small, lightweight vs DB) backup instrument?
BassBod
I'd love it...but can't get to that London to collect it.
Beedster
I would really quite like this back Clarky. I know you had some feedback issues with it, but FCS you're playing very loud with the equivalent of two bands around you at close quarters! For my gigs this was actually a perfect bass with great DB tone and more. In time honoured tradition, I might be in touch over the weekend C
Clarky
Sorry Bassbod/Duncan, I just don't trust ParcelFarce with something relatively fragile (compared to an electric bass anyway) and Beedster I await your call mate! FYI, I can put back on TI Flats if you prefer to black nylons (I could also just give you back the old worn TI Flats you had on it and keep teh La Bellas on) Edited September 8, 2011 by Clarky
BassBod
I completely understand - would be such a shame to see it damaged.

They feel more DB (albeit a bit plastic-y as they are still so new and not worn in) whereas your old worn-in TIs probably sound more DB. I didn't ever receive the Ekos mate! I think they got lost in the post. If you prefer I would swap back the old TIs and chop £20 off the price? The EKO strings (which I have to admit I'm starting to wonder of I ever posted!) made the bass sound like an acoustic bass guitar, whilst I did feel the TIs really took it into DB territory, especially as they really seemed to bring out the noise of the board and the fingers. The TIs were also effortless to play whilst the EKOs were like playing La Bella Jamersons! I've just committed to buy back my old Ovation via Bob, so ahead of buying this back also, I probably need a Precision or two to sell, not so much in terms of needing the money, but more in terms of needing the space! I'll take some pics of those beasts this evening and push those sales and see what I can do mate C PS I really appreciate the offer, but there's no need to drop the price re different strings

Funny old world isn't it mate, I now own (albeit provisionally) five basses, four of which I have bought back from people I'd sold them to.
