doctor_of_the_bass
Hmmm....! If it were one of John's old basses it might be worth somewhere in the region of £20K but that is a lot of wonga.... Where's my agent? N x

steve-bbb
presuming it did have a provenance of being previously owned by a famous celeb basser to warrant such a price tag surely you would sell it through the american equivalent of bonhams specialist music auction or the like? xilddx
They are the ugliest things known to man. I know GarethOx on here has one, and is immensely proud of it going by his avatar, but I'm sorry mate, it's a design-distaster, an aesthetic fail of unrivalled epicness. dc2009
I feel like we should all offer him our membership number (in cents not dollars) and see what happens to the listing.

Just because he wants it to be, doesn't make it so! He wants forty grand-ish for a bass, and won't even deliver it?!?! Earbrass
Maybe this isn't as stupid as people are making out. Of course, the bass is not worth the BIN price, but perhaps the seller has put that absurdly high because he really wants people to use the "Make Offer" button. Maybe he thinks he'll get a higher price for the bass via the "sealed bid" method of Ebay's "Make an Offer" facility than by naming a price or running a straight auction. But I agree, it's a fugly beast.

kevin_lindsay
I actually love the way it looks. And, after trying one out at the Warwick store in New York, I was amazed at how incredibly comfortable it is. As for this bloke's listing, he's a total numpty if he thinks he can ask over 10 times the Market value of a great condition example. Fat Rich
Status only made a few dozen of them before Warwick's lawyers forced them to destroy the moulds after John Entwistle died. They're rare basses and Ox / Who fans will pay big money for them, I guess the seller has put the BIN price very high just in case he gets lucky. Personally I think it looks awful but I've never played one, maybe it's stunning! Edited July 18, 2011 by Fat Rich

Blademan_98
I couldn't bring myself to pay that for a bass, even if I had that sort of money.
