eggwizzard Posted July 21, 2011 Share Posted July 21, 2011 (edited) Beautiful acoustic bass made to Martin standards by their satelite company SIGMA that has been professionally altered to fretless by the previous owner. I picked this up in the states a couple of years ago but has sat around recently hence the sale. Sigma is the Brand name for Martin designed guitars made outside of the US. The body is flamed Maple with a spruce top and rosewood fretboard. Really nice wood. Plays and sounds fantastic. The electronics are a piezo electric pickup mounted under the bridge. An active-EQ preamp with three tone sliders for treble, mid, and bass, and master volume are mounted on the top side of the body. A 9 volt batery mounts in a clip holder on the inside of the bass through the large round sound hole. The bridge is a heavy block of solid brass which is covered with a trim piece of rosewood. The action is nice and low. Ive put a set of nylon flatwounds which gives this bass a very warm smooth sound. As you can see in the photos the condition is almost flawless. Includes hard case.
