Pete Academy Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Check this out. http://www.ritter-instruments.com/newslett...mmail/index.php Even if you hate his basses, you have to congratulate him on this. Quote
xgsjx Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Nice one. I'd love one of his basses One day maybe! Quote
waynepunkdude Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Basses aren't to my taste but does something different to the coffee table makers, great news. Quote

thodrik Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 That is great. Good to see that his attempts to push the boat out is being rewarded, says the person who would prefer the Precision... Quote
steve-soar Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I would love a Jupiter bass but to land £7,000 on a bass that at best sounds average but looks mindblowing is a gamble I'm unwilling to take. Quote
Roland Rock Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Well deserved - Jens is a breath of fresh air (or poppers) in a pretty samey industry Quote

That's a bit harsh...?! Seriously, not sure whether it's a good thing the Bass is going into a Musuem: thought those things were meant to be played! Quote
RhysP Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I thought there was a Steinberger in the Smithsonian as well. Quote
BigRedX Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 There's a Gittler Guitar in MOMA in New York. Quote
Kiwi Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Shame the video didn't actually show us what it sounded like. I was disappointed by that. Quote
EBS_freak Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) Quite surprised that the bass is quite tame looking compared to his normal efforts! A great achievement all the same. Good on Herr Ritter! But to echo Steve-Soar, it's a shame that the preamp and pickups aren't as "revolutionary" as his designs. Same old stuff albeit in a different shell. Edited July 26, 2011 by EBS_freak Quote
Blademan_98 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Ah, I think I will get a bit of oak and my jig saw and make my own creation. Pickups are going to be 'open' wound and it's going to work on WiFi (router to be optional). Tuners to be thought guided (like on a MIG32 missile guidance system). That should get me [s]locked up[/s] in the Smithonian..... :lol; Quote
molan Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I played a couple of Ritters earlier this year and was really impressed by the workmanship and feel of them. Unfortunately they weren't amped up so couldn't hear what they sounded like. Heard on the grapevine that there might be a UK distribution deal for Ritters coming soon which will actually see some in stock for demo purposes I saw via another site that the Smithsonian really does only have one bass currently in its collection. Some places said it was one of the very first made but their own site says it's a '55 / '56 model. Meanwhile they have about 30 different six stringers. . . Quote
