urb
This should be a great couple of nights from these two super talented players/singers - no idea if anyone here has caught Midon live but he's a cross between Stevie/Prince - and yes he's blind - but plays guitar like a demon, sings like an angel and does a mean vocal-trumpet impression - Ricky B ain't bad either See you on the Tuesday if you're going - they are there 2 and 3 August http://venues.meanfiddler.com/jazz-cafe/fu...tured-gigs/4282 Just thought you'd guys and gals would like to know Cheers Mike
urb
Sorry for the additional post - I'm sure some of you have seen this but Midon real is one talented bugger: He's a pretty mean slap-guitarist - and harmony/vocalist/trumpeter too... 4000
Oh arse. I'd love to go but am totally, utterly brassic and being at the other end of the country that makes this a no-go.
phil625sxc
thanks for posting, that looks like a good show - I saw Richard Bona at the Barbican a few years ago which was a great gig, really nice playing & singing, and he's got a really good stage presence as well, he just seemed to be having so much fun throughout the whole gig ! The drummer on that one blew me away as well, forgotton who he was now...Cuban guy, Ernesto something...anyway, cheers for the heads up ! :-)

urb
Now that was an amazing gig - they split the set between their material - and Bona was just brilliant at locking in and playing for the song, they also did a mad version Teen Town with Midon singing the melody AND playing it (fingerstyle) on the guitar... and then they swapped solos, and for all Bona's technical brilliance Midon was ahead of him in terms of phrasing and fresh ideas, but saying that it was amazing stuff from both of them. If any of you guys can make it you will not regret it - a great band - there were only four guys on stage but it sounded like about 6 musicians in all... truly brilliant. davebass66
D'oh! Would've loved to have seen this, unfortunately I'm away!. Saw Bona couple years back at the Jazz cafe, he just oozed taste and musicianship. Modern day legend!
