seashell Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011
No new suggestions from me as its Andy Fraser (surely the coolest ever) and our friends Phil L and Norman W-R. >Edit: Looking at that pic again, even kids don't have waists like that nowadays. Thanks MacDonalds.
Oo yes, definitely Quote
Stag Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 For me it has to be the bloke everyone looked at when Metallica were on stage.... the flares, the hair, the headbanging, the style, the skill, the bass... man had it all. Quote
nick Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 For me, it's a toss-up between Justin Meldal-Johnsen or Bobby Vega. Quote
Linus27 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Considering the reason I picked up bass was seeing U2's Adam Clayton on stage at Live Aid and thinking he is the coolest looking dude on the planet and I wanted to look like him makes my decision really easy Quote
indiegrungesound Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011
I can't believe nobody's mentioned a certain Japanese cross-dresser yet... Anyway, for me, it'd have to be Mike Mills, if only for the suits.
+10(at least!) for mentioning Mr Mills! Quote
TheGreek Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011
Mick Karn.
I would agree..but he's now in heaven.. Quote

Yoda Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Another vote for Mick Khan No mention of John Entwhistle ...? Not cool (perhaps), but still up there. Quote
TheGreek Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I'd also include Jack Bruce - Sunshine of my Love and Badge must be two of the coolest basslines ever.. Do I need to add videos??? Quote

\m/
Amen mate. I would say Gene $immon$ - I've been a KISS fan since I was 10 years old but, I'll have to say Mr Harris - I learned to play by playing along to Maiden. One of my proudest fourstring moments was being able to play Rime Of The Ancient Mariner note for note at the tender age of 16. Saw Maiden again on Sunday in Brum, and everytime I see them I just wish I could be him for one gig. Quote
Grassie Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 +1 for Mick Karn. Jeff Ament is pretty cool too, innee? Quote

Ou7shined Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Can't believe no one has mentioned the chap on the right here - THE most influential bass player in my life.... and who rumour has it, was the inventor of detuned bass. Quote
Robert Manning Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Carlos d, indie fashion icon. He was bigger than the band. Quote
