bobogib
Just thought I would pop in and say hi. I've been floating on the fringe for a week or so as I'm looking at jumping ship from guitar to bass. Don't know why, I just have the urge. So I thought I would join, say hi then browse the forums for advice. I don't actually own a bass yet but I have just (in a way) been given the all clear to get one from her indoors, I just haven't got a clue what I'm doing yet. Hopefully plan on visiting my local shops in a few weeks when I get back to the UK to give me an idea of what is going to suit me better. Anyway, thanks for reading and let the newbie questions commence.
chrismuzz
Welcome! Good to see another potential convert I used to play guitar myself, but had that familiar urge... 8 years later, I haven't looked back! Also, if you know what you're after, you can get some sick deals from the For Sale section here! Edited July 29, 2011 by chrismuzz
bobogib
Have not got a clue what I am after yet. I'm limited by budget, probably £200 max so looking more a second hand, just so I can dip my toe. Musical taste varies massively so would need something relatively versatile. Mr Fudge
You can do both ... but ...Bass is Best.

Resist a plectrum and get your fingers going. Good luck.
