Hi,

Got a couple of new videos up on youtube, the first one is 'He's a Tramp' (Peggy Lee) with myself playing double bass and Charlotte Rose on vocals:

The second one is a cover of 'New York' by Paloma Faith:

I would love to know what you guys think, comments, suggestions etc.

Alex

p.s. I know the mix isn't great, still fairly new to the whole home recording thing! :-)

Really liking the version of New York - my only comment is really to do with the recording - try hooking your bass and the vocals up to something like Logic/Garageband/Cubase etc - then sync up the high quality audio with the video - I mean you can hear the nauances of what you are both doing and it sounds great but with a smidge of reverb on the voice/louder vocal/better mix too - would really make this a lot better. You might actually consider filming it in a slightly less cramped setting too - a nice room or studio - as the music is great but good presentation would really kick this up a notch. Very nice playing and singing by you both though so well done on all counts there.

Hope that's cool and keep it up - you both sound good.

Likewise... the potential here is fantastic - you're both clearly good musicians, and I enjoyed both tracks - it's just somewhat let down by the recording. But then I'm probably being picky.

Get yourselves some better tech/software (as already mentioned by Mike above) and you'll improve on this immediately.

If only my own musical output could be so easily solved... :)

PS: nice playing on the upright - I want one!

Thanks for your comments guys, I'm glad that you like the music side of things :-). If you have any suggestions for songs or things to try with just a duo setting that would be cool.

I'll definitely try hooking the bass and vocals up properly next time, and recording the audio separately is a good shout! Hmm might have to invest in a decent audio interface of some sort. Any suggestions?
At the moment I'm just using my macbook with a zoom H2 mic plugged in :-S.
