offhegoes Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) For sale: my Vintage EST96 bass. I've had this as my main bass for around 3 years, however I'm raising money to eventually buy a new car. It's in good working condition and has a thick punchy tone. Cosmetically it has a few minor scratches, but those are only visible when looking closely for them. The new EST96's are active, this is one of the original passive series. The passive version is currently only available in Black for £220: http://www.fretmusic.co.uk/Vintage_EST96_Bass_Guitar.html The active version can be found in Sunburst for £230: http://www.heybrookmusic.co.uk/vintage-est...source=googleps The only issue with it is that the 2 tone controls don't seem to respond and so tone is set on full, but that never bothered me even when gigging so I've just left it like that. Probably could be sorted with a quick bit of soldering but I prefer to leave electronics alone. Volume control works fine. For the bass I'm looking for £60, and it can be collected from Glasgow. Alternatively I can deliver it for £80. If you have any questions or want more photos just let me know Thanks, Andrew Edited August 6, 2011 by offhegoes
Papalampraina Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 For this bass and its excellent reviews, £75 are a steal! For Entwistle's sake, somebody please buy it, because I can't.
tommorichards Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 how close does the sound get to, ya'know..... what instrument looks like? and hows the neck?

Neck-wise construction is good, frets and fretboard seem to be in good condition. The bass I'm currently using most (and sadly selling also - see my CV jazz bass post) has a much lower action and since playing that regularly I find the action on the EST96 to be a little high, but that should be easily adjustable if you know what you're doing.
