Just wondered if anyone had any srecommmendations for Instrument insurance? It would be to cover my gear when out gigging and in transit to/from.

Thanks.

Used to get mine with Endsleigh when I was a student - pretty comprehensive insurance up to about £5k worth of stuff for about £40 a year IIRC. Amazingly, mines now covered on our contents insurance - specifically listed and didn't cost much extra - think we're with More Than, have to check.

That's interesting, I'll check with our insurance broker to see if I can do the same.

Musicguard Insurance covers your gear in the house, at gigs, in a vehicle and also includes £5m of public liability - very useful!

The only downside is that when you add new items/remove them it costs £7 quid a time which can add up to a lot if you're selling/buying gear as much as most basschat members.....

Are there any pre conditions to joining the Musicians Union?

Serious question as the acting union (Equity) require you to have two contracts before you can join.

I gig on the pub scene but wouldn't say I'm a pro!
