My first impressions wasn't amazing on this but when I messed about with it for a few hours, I was like.. wow!! I love it. The tones are great. Its loud for saying its only 30w. I can get a nice warm sound and if I want to dial it in, I'll get a real cool fuzzy tone from it. Really impressed with this little amp! Ashdown have made a great bit of kit here. I think I'll be getting the Ashdown cab for this when I get the spare cash! I think I'll be taking it along to a few band practises in the future to see how it gets on. franzbassist
I'm in, with #27. Also have one of the original 4 ohm LB212 cabs (now replaced in the range by the 8 ohm VS212). I've replaced the JJ valves with NOS, ex-MOD, Mullards in the preamp (81s instead of 83s) and driver stages to tame the beast.

derrenleepoole
I love these little things, wish I could afford one. The question is, and apologies if it's been asked a million times before, can you gig with it? I don't do large venues at all, maybe one a year, mostly pubs and clubs. Would one of these cut it with a good efficient speaker cab? I'm insanely jealous guys

If you order one, check whether they really do still have the UK made 4 ohm LB212 in stock, as they certainly won't be able to get any more in. If they have to order one in from Ashdown it'll be the 8 ohm VS212.

kieppi
Yo, I have number 30. Just got it home. Awesome! Mr. Walbassist says he has replaced the tubes but how on all Earth do you do that? Do the front / back panels somehow come off? The top vent seems a tad small A crappy pic can be found at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18144562/IMAG0056.jpg

All you do is loosen the screws on the handle and remove the ones on the side, then slide the unit out from the chassis. Very easy.
kieppi
OK now I see. Thanks for both the welcoming and the tip. We're having a rehearsal on Sunday so I'll get to bash away with my Tech21 B410. I guess I'll experiment a bit with different preamp tubes as I'm not the biggest fan of full-on distortion. Original packaging has Hayden labels on it btw. Edited January 6, 2012 by kieppi
