Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Just see this video on another thread - don't want to derail that thread, so I started a new thread at around 1:20 Ed clearly pronounces 'basswood' as 'basswood' instead of 'basswood'. So which is right 'basswood' as in 'bass' or 'basswood' as in 'bass'? I've always said basswood myself. Quote
4-string-thing Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I'm guessing you have too much time on your hands and don't get out much..... Quote

Cosmo Valdemar Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I've always pronounced it 'basswood', as in bass, but it could just as easily be 'basswood'. Quote

TRBboy Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I've always pronounced it basewood, I figured that basswood was more of an Americanism. I say tomato, you say tomato Quote

Beer of the Bass Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Erm, in the poll, which one is "basswood" and which one is "basswood"? Quote
Blademan_98 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I went with the 'you're scaring me' option. It's just a bit of wood from a tree (and acording to some, there is not a lot left ) Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011
Erm, in the poll, which one is "basswood" and which one is "basswood"?
easy - the basswood option is for basswood, whereas the other one - the one that says basswood is for basswood. The poll won't make sense now. Sorry. Quote
Shambo Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I 'may' not be on here much longer, whether i stay or go will depend largely on the result of this poll. Quote
EssentialTension Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 In UK English I think it's pronounced Linden Quote
