Bidd
Right, I'm playing Hysteria by Muse tomorrow night in my Uni college unplugged night (which isn't at all unplugged) I have a Boss GT6-B and want to get the right tone, but I'm far too busy writing my dissertation (am in library needing to write 7000 words by Thursday) to play about with it and do it myself. So does anyone else here play Hysteria through a GT6-B, and could you please tell me how you he tthe right (or a similar) tone? I would be really gratful as the presets are pretty crap. Kev
you wont get a amazingly decent one, best tone i got was with the ocatave fuzz on it, eq'd to f*** Edited March 7, 2008 by BassManKev

Faithless
Same sh1t with me, guys, got a gig next week, and teacher will only (probably) lend processor tommorow, and, against playing-improving material-and-sh1tty-singing odds, I'm DESPERATE to find as much similar sound, as I can. The last time I've asked for the "wtf this effect is" people said it's BassBalls. I need somethin' like that on goddamn GT-6B... Playing Rob Trujillo's solo from For Whom The Bell Tolls of Metallica. Solo's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AetZXksLdJk Help me, guys, I beg you Edited March 7, 2008 by Faithless
umph
fuzz + wah to the above poster Edited March 8, 2008 by umph
Flintlock
The tone for hysteria is a Sawtooth with some fuzz, I think. However I get a really good tone by running my Little Big Muff and then turning the mids and treble right down (you'll still need some of each though, so don't turn it right off). For whom the bell tolls is easy, fuzz with quite high tone and then slowly rock the wah back and forth. [edit] This guy does the job quite well one a Boss GT-6B, try PM'ing him. There's clips of both of these over at talkbass.com.

A good Muse type one I found tonight is in the Overdrive menu, in the psychadelic setting. I can find most tones in the OD/distortion menu with no eq and sometimes a bit of compresion. I find that the less you have to add the better the tone and you can mix your dry and effected sounds to perfection.
Kev
yup i know, i had one for a good few months, but i certainly hold by what i say n say you cant get a great hysteria tone out of it, but ye you can get a nice musey overdrive/distortion, but synth and filters suck on the gt6b
steve-soar
Amen to that. I wouldn't mind if it had any filters to tweek, It takes an age to get any decent wah tones but for what it is and how much you can pick them up for £150-200 they are great. Obsidiandesire
Well in the recording, it's worth noting they recorded about 3 or 4 basses on top of each other? I think just regular distortion on max + octaver like was mentioned above should work...
