elom
http://www.myspace.com/danceofthestarlings would like to here some comments! recorded one evening using garage band bass: Yamaha bb414 - sansamp (similar to "SVT like" setting ) - mixing desk
I thought I'd give this a quick listen out of courtesy like, ended up listening to all 4 tracks twice. For me this is just how a raw, young indie band should sound - plenty of rough edges but bags of promise. The Strokes and Arctic Monkey influences are very strong. Sometimes this works (really liked 'Rejects' - could be an early Strokes demo) but the vocals on 'Flight is Fast' sound like they are trying too hard to be Alex Turner. Not sure what you were trying to do on 'Rule of Four' but it didn't do it for me - sounds like it was recorded inside a metal dustbin and I couldn't listen to it all the way through - this could just be me getting old though! Nice tone on the bass and it fits the style of music. The backing vocals could maybe with do with a bit of attention but that's a minor criticism. Overall a good collection of songs and I'd be interested to hear more. Nice one.
ShergoldSnickers
I must have been inside elom's head as that pretty much sums up exactly what I was thinking. OK so there are some rough edges, but it works in the main. Yeah, keep doing it and keep posting the results. Given that I'm actually old and not just getting old, I hope these comments don't do you any harm... "Jeeze - if that Snicks likes us then we're doomed..." paul, the
+1 to the insightful chaps above. happy, humbling music that's very addictive. I think you guys will do really well. A bit rough and ready, as you say, but the arrangement is inspired; very professional. EDIT:- Love the band name too! The Funk
Indie is really not my thing but it sounds very together and pretty tight, especially for a rough demo. You should easily be able to get plenty of gigs off the back of that. One thing I do like is the growing number of indie bands not just with good time but pretty good rhythm sections. It sounds like your band could fall into that category.

Steve_nottm
Listening as I type and I have to say I quite like it. I can see the Strokes comparison, and for rough recordings I think it's more than enough for the songs to come through and to get you gigs etc. Rejects is good. Like the song and listened to all of that Rule of four. Have to admit I didn't like. The intro showed promise but never happened for me The Bundle. Nope sorry. not for me Flight. Yup, good. Very Arctic monkeys, perhaps too much so. Song itself is strong.
kdphysio
Yeah, like the others, only one doesn't do it for me is Rule of Four.....sounds like the drummer's hammering away on some dustbins!! But can hear Arctics, Strokes, and Fratellis influences.......good stuff. Enjoy the gig. Good luck.
