Magnolia Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Well, it was yesterday actually, but I have been too busy playing it to post on here. After some thinking and advice seeking I decided to buy my Birthday bass. A lovely 1982 Rickenbacker 4001. Made in a June 1982, a month before I was born. It sounds better than i expected through my amp, thunderous and as a Rick should. Only one issue, which is the output jack is very very noisy if moved. I'm gonna go get that looked at today. Anyway, Pics! Quote
bh2 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Oh my!... always wanted a Ricky... just can't get on with them though. Quote
Chris2112 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Time to get those old Rush records on and get shedding! Quote

They are my benchmark songs to check that it sounds as it should! Quote
Lozz196 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 That is a beauty. I`ve only ever played one Rick, and I loved it, was a great bass, exactly the same colour scheme as yours - very cool. Quote

charic Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Not usually a fan of Rics but that ain't alf bad. Congrats Quote
luckman67 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 It was a friends 70's Jetglo 4001 back in 1988/89 that started my life long love affair with Rickenbacker. Quote
Chris2112 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I do like black Rics, namely because that was the colour of choice for Stanley Clarke, Tony Butler and Geddy Lee. The other colours...nah, not so much! Quote
Magnolia Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 For me black is the only colour a Rick should be. Its just so classic. I love the way the white binding has yellowed with age. Had it in the studio last night for the first time, cranked up it is just awesome. Can't wait to gig it Friday. Quote
