chris_b
I just spent 2 hours watching the best gig in the UK tonight, by far. The band was Simon Carter (piano), Phil Mulford (bass), Ian Thomas (drums) and was fronted by Tommy Blaize. They ran through 2 sets of Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and many others. It was a quality night. Phil Mulford is an amazing 1st call session bass player and never missed a beat. He was playing an old Overwater J bass through an Eden WT500 and Eden D410XST cab. The sound was round, fat, punchy, clear as a bell and filled the room. I'm having to resist the urge to go looking for some Eden gear!! Merton
He's at the Bull's head on Wednesday, playing with Freddy V (sax from AWB), Jack Pollitt, Terry Lewis and Simon Carter. Vox from Jo Harman. Haven't seen Phil in years though he's hoping to come to the SE Bass Bash
