Riverside silent bass?

Has anyone got any opinions on Riverside basses?

Long story short, I'm being sent to Bermuda in 2 weeks with work for 6 weeks and I don't want to be without an instrument. So something cheap and light and well, not total rubbish is in order.

Apparently it’s way too expensive over there to consider buying, though you can get to the US for a hundred quid and 2 hours flight.

Ha, yeah a lot of people have said that.

Actually, it's not meant to be all that hot, well it's very hot. But not much to do there: One or two cinemas, a nightclub. 6 weeks is a long time to spend locked up in an apartment because it’s either 50 degrees outside or midst hurricane.

As a bit of a throwback hippie, I think the flower's kind of sweet. But I don't like the funny shaped body. The bass seems a bit unsure of itself.

Did you particularly want a fretless? Y'know, for probably less than £200 you could pick up an Aria Sinsonido on eBay or similar. Might well be a better bet. Just a thought.

Back to bass! erm, it doesn't really need to be a fretless, but I've already got 2 fretted and I thought it might be a good time to learn some intonation skills.

I think my new plan is to shuttle over to New York and buy something whilst I'm there and take my chances getting it back into the UK in one piece.
