fumps
Hi guys I've been writing some Bass peices & know that it's about time i got them down before i start to forget them. i need a simple Bass to PC interface as the last time i did home recording it was on my old trusty 8- track Fostex beast that is no longer living lol. I dont need anything that flashy as i have a good friend that owns a recording studio but do need something just to make raw recordings onto a laptop......Can anyone help with advice ? Cheers fellas
cheddatom
I think behringerdo a cheap one... If you have a pedal or something you can use as a pre-amp then the very cheapest stuff which just accepts line inputs will work for you. Nyl
i'm also starting to look for a USB interface, and i'm defo looking down the cheaper end a mate gave me a link that's quite good, although i don't understand all the column headings http://tweakheadz.com/audio_interface_usb2...rison_chart.htm I'm tempted with he Tascam 122 or 144, if only because i've always used their 4 tracks. and as a quick edit, i've hear that some do not work great with the 64bit versions of Windows, just a point to consider if have windows 7, or running 64bit XP or Vista Edited August 15, 2011 by Nyl

As i say i'm not trying to do high end stuff just a way so i can import/ record via my laptop & keep it otherwise i just forget what i've done lol
Evil Undead
I'd be more inclined to go with a Pod GX which is about £60. Comes with all the software etc, and is really good for the price.

janmaat
Well behringer - your know where the hook is. I had a look at their guarantee specs recently. Only 1 year - you must have kept the original packaging - you must not have opened it up yourself - and worst of all, all parts that "naturally wear off" such as faders, pots etc. are explicitly exempt, which means the guarantee does not cover anything that can actually break - so no guarantee at all. but i guarantee you the thing will break. money spent on behringer kit is thrown out of the window. fumps
I know in Leeds university they use Beringer sound desk's which were pretty robust for the price but the rest i dont know much about.
cheddatom
People like to whinge about Behringer, I can't deny their reputation for poor reliability. Having said that, in my experience, their reputation is not born out.

Valhalalf
Have you looked at a Line 6 GX interface? http://line6.com/podstudiogx/ I have a GX at work and a UX2 at home. Zero latency with amp modeling, can be run standalone and dead easy to use plus they come up cheap on ebay from time to time. Ideal for home practice/recording

Monckyman
I think Behringer gear has improved vastly over the last ten years, however I would say if it has moving parts, watch out. As for interfaces that just sit there and don`t get any physical abuse, then go for it. Best bang for the buck. MM
