ficelles
Is there such a thing as... a db string tension comparison chart? If not has anyone got the info in their head and time to type it in? ficelles
BottomEndian
D'Addario do one for their DB ranges: http://www.jdaddario.com/resources/JDCBOW/..._Chart_Bass.pdf Other than that, I know nothing cos I'm not a DB player. derrenleepoole
Somewhere on the web, there is a site by a player that has audio examples of lots of different strings, all done on the same bass. So you can hear what strings sound like and make a better informed opinion of them. Maybe someone could provide the link.

thisnameistaken
I wish. When I was replacing my first set of strings (Evah mediums) I wanted something lower tension, and I'd played Spiros on someone else's bass, but those were my only references. I went looking for something like Spiros in tension but with less of a bright sound and found that only a couple of manufacturers published tension data. Very disappointing. Although I suppose raw figures might not mean much in terms of human experience - would 30lb feel like 3/4 of 40lbs? I don't know. But it would be nice to see the figures as a guide anyway. Beer of the Bass
I wonder how much use it would be, as our perception of tension varies a lot with the flexibility and elasticity of the string as well as absolute tension. As an example, Thomastik Dominants feel about as stiff to play as Spiro Mittels, but I am told the measured tension is lower.
