Moving to the 6 string environment

Currently playing my Yamaha RBX6JM and loving it btw. I found the TRB1006 to be an awesome bass aswell

I got my 676 for £670 though most seem to be almost £800 now Great bass, love mine! Very versitile with a bit of EQing, very very easy to sound jazzy and funky on it! And i play metal of all sorts and i can get the grunt and power from it too! Nice crisp growl which i like alot!

You have no idea how much I envy you.

Saving for a Yamaha TRB1006J! I love my 676 but i need a spare/back up and the TRBs i've always loved, they have an amazing mid-range with that grunt i love!

My bad: in Italy they're price tag is somewhere around EUR 620. The situation could be entirely different up there.

Yeah I do I was waiting ages and one just turned up at exactly the right moment.

Needs new strings on it now. Currently using it to write progressive punk (is that even a genre?)

Might I reccomend a Spector Q6 pro? Pretty cheep, but doesn't sound or feel like it. If you set it up right. They come with EMG Hz pickups, which aren't amazing, but if you manage to get some better replacements, they'll take just about anything on.

At your peril, search Youtube for 'The Daub'z, Live at Lassay' for a couple of clips shot at a local concert. I must warn you that our 'cameraman' (Nico...) joins in on the chorus, the sound is straight from the camera, so he drowns out Steph, our singer. Wouldn't be so bad, but Nico can't sing for toffee, even when he's not p*ssed..! Sorry about that...

thanks a lot, it sounds great. i'm gonna be very short of funds really soon, and knowing that there are some other inexpensive sixers makes the idea much more tolerable.

The make of my 5 string is Sandberg and the it's the basic JM model.
My fretless 4 string is the affinity series jazz bass that I defretted myself.

The Ibanez SR506 is a lovely instrument but check them very carefully as I refused two earlier this year for defects. The first had a crack on the headstock, the second was a right mess - marks on body, glue on fretboard, terrible quality for a "brand new" bass sent from the distributor. Headstock Distribution were useless too - 3 months later I got a copy and paste email with no real explanation or apology so have really gone off Ibanez now.
