PLaying hard and possibly a bridge pickup though. Playing very hard mostly, Newstead's technique came from not having an amp so needing all his volume acoustically. Use a good valve amp/preamp or perhaps a tech21 BDDI or simmilar. Speaker wise you could do worse than check out my UL310 in the adds section it will destroy any of the cabs you list for pretty much any application.
