Shambo Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Not something I'd bid on myself but certainly one to watch... Monckyman Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Rourke took a hit when he settled out of court in his royalties case with Morrissey,(who said in court that he and Joyce were as "replaceable as lawnmower parts". He`s been skint for years. Mike Joyce is doing DJ sets at festivals etc now so I presume he`s skint too. The stuff in question seems to be a cheap pickup rig for later work and nothing to do with the Smiths so I can`t see it having any cachet to any but the ultra faithful. Quote

Mykesbass Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Bit off calling it the Smiths Bass Rig when it also states he's owned it for 10 years or so Quote
danhkr Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 His main live rig for the last 10 years...wonder when it was last re-valved Quote
hairyhaw Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 IIRC Joyce was a Peavey man during The Smiths. Quote
Blademan_98 Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 It would look nice in my living room......... It would be the only thing in there as the misses would divorce me and take all the furniture Quote

Very underrated bass player, genuinely nice bloke too. Rourke was badly advised to settle with Morrissey & Marr out of court & got £10k, Joyce went to court & got £1m. Last I heard, Morrissey had refused to divvy up his share to Joyce, citing his US citizenship exempting him from British court rulings, w***er. Quote
Conan Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011
Morrissey said in court that he and Joyce were as "replaceable as lawnmower parts".
Yeah right. Tracks like "This Charming Man" and "William..." really owed nothing at all to the bass parts... Just goes to show that all singers are tossers. Quote
Musicman20 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Those Smith's guitar and bass parts are an intrinsic part of the music. In fact, they are probably some of the best indie/rock bass lines Ive heard... Very memorable, and instantly 'Smiths' as soon as you hear it. Shame...I did see Andy DJ'ing at Glasto a few years back, the night before it all started, and he did a good job of warming us all up depsite the rubbish weather. Quote
Shambo Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 Well... just over £2K with 6 hours to go. Somebody wants it bad. Quote
