Anyone want to buy a kidney? It's had a fair bit of abuse, but still works. Quote
mike f Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 Thanks for the responses, guys. That Darkglass sounds fantastic. And quality costs! I do like the ODB-3, and have had one and liked the grit it added to my bass, but I couldn't get the more overdriven sounds I like with it. Any thoughts on the EBS Multidrive or the MXR M80? Quote
chrismuzz Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 (edited) Not tried either of those.. But there is a programmable sansamp for sale at the moment on here. If you don't mind the mid scoop its very useable for tone shaping, adding tubey warmth, and is more than capable of overdriven tones too! The blend knob is probably what made me choose it over the VT bass which doesn't have one. Being able to save a few settings is incredibly useful too! Edited August 28, 2011 by chrismuzz Quote
burno70 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Are you sure you need blendable? Fuzz ok but overdrive - really? Quote
EskimoBassist Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I've never had any problems with my MXR M-80 using my active bass however I always run into a buffered tuner first, so I can't give you an idea of how it copes with a pure active signal; but if I had to guess, I would say that it sounds the same. ahpook Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 owen electronics gremlin ? not easy to come by, but great pedals - i never had any problem with mine with active basses. Quote
craigcapener Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Have you thought about the mxr m80. Its a wicked unit, great with both passive and active bass, I use one all the time and I use an active bass. Worth all the money spent on it, its a really flexible little unit, its got a d.i out as well as your normal out and it has a parallel out too! Saying that though, that darkglass unit sounded yummy! Walker Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Just spent a whole day playing with new B3K. Tried in front of my VTBD - bloody hell, insane! This is it for me Quote
GazWills Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) xotic bass BB preamp. tidy! no blend, but doesn't need one, can dial in a big bass boost with the EQ. Edited October 10, 2011 by GazWills Quote
