Just wonderin how much this bass is worth he doesn't give the letters at the start of the serial number so unsure how old it is, looks good tho!

At the moment, IMHO it's worth nothing. The serial number doesn't look right - a bit blurry and fuzzy? Ask the seller for a close-up of the serial number. It's just a bit toooo clean for a 16+ year old bass that's been gigged for 10 years.

Well 'worth' can be very subjective. But if you want an idea of how much you should expect to pay for this bass; here's one that sold recently:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Precision-Bas...1QQcmdZViewItem

So on that and that alone the starting bid wouldn't be a bad price. Although there are things to keep in mind with the bass that I've linked to: 'pickup only' and the mind numbing appearance of the description.

Hah, yea. Assuming it's genuine. But it looks good to me.

Looks good to me but as usual play it before you buy it if at all possible.
I have really become quite a fan of the Japanese Fender (and Squier) basses over the last 12 months as I have had to do a lot of research and obviously playing of them.
The price discrepancy between a Jap Fender and a USA Fender is not in any way a true reflection on the difference in the quality of the instruments in my opinion.

How do you say Garcia in Japanese? :)

I think the serial is I033949 and not 1033949 which would make it 89/90 and tally up roughly with how long he says he's had it

255 is probably a fair price for it - might be worth another 50 ish quid
i've got an 84 one which is in largely the same condition.
