martindupras Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I've just bought Grreth's Overwater J5 fretless, which is awesome. For a number of reasons, I'd like to put some flatwounds on it, but I have to confess to my ignorance about flatwounds. (I've been playing stainless steel roundwounds for years.) What I'm looking for: - strings suitable for a 35" scale (strung at the bridge, not through-body) - gauge as close as possible to what I'm used to (45-65-85-105-135) I'm open to suggestions of brands and sets which anyone has experience of. I'm open to half-wound, ground-wound, pressure-wound, etc. I don't like tape-wounds, though. Incidentally, my hands hardly sweat so durability is not so much an issue. Cheers, - martin Quote
chris_b Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 There’s also the plastic coated flats. Not sure of the make or name. Quote
