xgsjx
Get a lightweight amp & cab (or combo), buy a pipe & grow a beard.

Dom in Dorset
Playing an uber-heavy twin neck in two originals bands until october when I turn 45 and the chrystal in the palm of my hand changes colour...
obbm
At 45 I restarted on bass and have been rocking for the past 20 years. Now I'm an official OAP but have no intention of stopping. New band now in rehearsal.
louisthebass
I'm 48 in a months time, but still feel the same way about playing when I started at 21! Having lightweight gear is a godsend. I don't know how I coped for years lugging heavyweight Trace Elliot or Peavey gear...
RhysP
I'm 46 with a herniated lumbar disc & I recently bought the heaviest combo I've ever owned. I just point at my back & get other people to move it.
Lozz196
I`m 45, playing in an originals band, and looking to reform the punk covers band I was in until it split early this year. My concession to age - which is more to do with a bad back that I`ve had for over half my life anyway - is to have bought two Barefaced cabs, to make things easier for me. Other than that, still making a racket, and 45 is a number that`s all. When I feel I want to stop, it will be because I`m not enjoing playing any more, and nothing to do with when I was born. Monckyman
>49 in December. So what we`re all saying is mid 40s is PRIME time! You would be suprised at how many bands doing the covers scene are in their 40s and older. Get stuck in, you have at least 20 years of gigging to look forward to! thepurpleblob
Coming up 48. My only problem is that a late night playing really takes it out of me. I've no idea how I used to play three gigs over a weekend. You just do what you can do and what you enjoy. I've been thinking about getting some lightweight gear but I currently play in a very loud pub rock band with vocal only PA. So the two 15s and 500W amp is kinda what it takes. Any suggestions gratefully received though.

There's a reason so many Basschatters have gone that route, y'know. If you're anywhere near London on Friday you can hear my rig at the George IV in Chiswick.
