topo morto
I got an el-cheapo 'KS' fretless 5 off another BC'er a few months back and am getting on with it pretty well - part of which is the string spacing, 16.5mm at the bridge. If I wanted to grab something else with that spacing, what's out there? Some Ibanez 5 strings seem to have 16.5 mm spacing but the only current model seems to be the GWB35. Warwick was also mentioned elsewhere as having narrow spacing... can't see any spacing stats on their site though. I'm thinking of things that could be found in the £200-£500 range, new or s/h. biro
you know you've got the greatest nickname ever, do you? btw, I would check have you tried cort? I they're still making a 5 string curbow, that would probably be a great choice. if you are into [cheap] fender clones, why don't you check rondomusic for 5 string JBs. as far as I know, they come with very narrow string spacing! I'll add the cort curbow to the list of ones to look out for, thanks (apparently they are 17mm). There was a tanglewood curbow on ebay last weekend but I would prefer a cort as I have good memories of my Action Junior!
biro
yeah, but the tanglewod might actually be (i.e. sound) better if it's wooden. although really had to say that my cort curbow fretless was a killer bass.
Pentode
The Dean fretless 5's have a 16mm spacing Bill Lewington's the importer. Retails at £450 but if you look around you should get it cheaper. I've got one like the above and it does sound lovely.

Mornats
Bass Collections are known for their narrow necks. I've no idea what the string spacing is on mine but here's a pic:
bassjamm
I can give a thumbs up for the Ibanez GWB35. Really awesome bass for the money both in quality and tone.
topo morto
OK, So, I got an Ibanez GWB. It's noice! Anything else?
Darkstrike
As you mentioned yourself in the OP, Warwick, they're 16.5mm standard(and sound great fretless, by all accounts). They can come wider though, in their broadneck models. Edited September 21, 2011 by Darkstrike

cocco
They have super narrow string spacing too, I'm just not sure they come with 5 strings
topo morto
As long as they could be set up for BEAD ok, not a problem...
Grand Wazoo
You don't get a narrower fretless than a Hofner H5000/1-
cocco
I'd seriously recommend an SB then not the 1000 though, it's a tad over priced!
