More about whether you like being dicked. They know they have no right to charge the fee, but people pay it anyway, so that is good business. they have a policy of refunding it if you send the letter back to them. Somehow word of this hasn't filtered through to front line phone bods.

Loose wood nodule, amazingly uber-gnarly! Could add distortion even when the WishBass is played acoustically.

Elsewise I'd lock it in with some glue. Love the gnarly wood, don't let ParcelFarce detract from a wonderful piece.

Doesn't look like mud to me, looks like a loose knot that was held in place by resin before the wood was dried.

Figured a plan for hardening up the back part, been sanding around it. I have some Wilko own brand ‘danish oil’ but it is actually a wipe on varnish, leaving a satin plasticy coating. I used it for a door then got some proper stuff. Anyway, the sticky plasticyness seemed idea for purpose if I can get it to penetrate, mixed it 50/50 with white spirit an brushed it on, leaving it to pool in the crevices, and soak in. Will top up in a bit.

Are you wanting the roughness to be coated, or are you looking it to be totally level with the surface? What about filling the crevaces with a clear epoxy resin?

Just want the bark hardened, don't want it filled in like one of those scorpions in a paperweight. Is supposed to be bark, just didn't want it flaking off on me.

Wiped over with some white spirit to show the grain. That or I spilt loads of white spirit whilst experiment with using it as a sanding lubricant. Not sure it didn't unglue the grit from my wet and dry block.

First coat of oil, rubbed on with wire wool to generate some sludge to fill the pores, will wait till hardens and rub back with fine wet and dry.

Having trouble with loads of iron filings stuck to it from the wire wool. Been gathering with a magnet, but some are bit ingrained into the craggyness. Went over it all today with 1200 grit an white spirit, then wiped down with kitchen roll wrapped round a magnet. Got some liquid superglue to seal the bark edges, but have to wait for the white spirit smell to clear.

You should leave the filings, they'll make the bass a "gnarly sparkle wood finish"
