I was just wondering what exactly are Pressurewound strings? On the description on the Rotosound website it says they are perfect for fretless basses but i dont know anything about them. bremen Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I use them on fretless. They're more like rounds than flats in their bahaviour, ie start very bright and quickly settle down, then after a while start to sound a bit lifeless. They don't mash up the board like rounds though, and finger noise is less evident. Quote
Mykesbass Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I use and like them as they give an extra bit of grunt which I was missing with flats and they don't chew up your fingers like roundwounds. They have started to mark my ebony board after 6 months or so but only surface scratches. Quote
apa Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) If your looking for Pressure wound or Ground wound I would recommend GHS Bright Flats. Thier not flats though thier Ground wound!! I also have a set of Roto pressure wound and I couldnt tell the difference in feel between them and rounds but after bedding in they are nice enough strings. Still go for the GHS's though. Oh and good luck finding them!! Your best bet is Ebay direct from the US. deepbass5 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 apa, Elites ground wound are realy good, best i have found, but as i am into GHS now might try those you suggested. from first thread, i would describe pressure wound as an ordinary round wound string squashed, rolled along its length so taking all the round windings down to a flater profile, as these companies usually start with a heavier gauge wrap and squash it down to a standard diameter, there is more mass in them than ordinary size round wounds. so more magnetic coupling.
