Yes I know. Not only was he a much better bassist than me, he's a lot funnier. The baxterd. Quote
EdwardHimself Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 I was reading an article the other day which said that Keanu Reeves out of the matrix is left handed but plays the bass right handed apparently. Quote
dannybuoy Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Chris Morris came to one of my gigs once! Actually he was there to see his nephew's band. I think I was the only person around who recognised him, so I chatted him up at the bar. Quote

brewster Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Pretty sure Martin Clunes played bass during his youth. Quote

So, apart from the: zillions in the bank; big movie parts; his good looks; women falling at his feet etc. he doesn't really have much going for him. 1 Quote
witterth Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Richard Hammond off "Top Gear"...but then you knew that didn't you? Quote
Dom in Dorset Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Clunes in a comedy spoof (Hunting Venus?), there was a bit in a rehearsal scene where he did appear to be playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqIrG036Kvk Quote

Steve Coogan once asked me if he could play my bass once ( he was "inspired" I said no ) Quote

flyfisher Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Does Lester Holt qualify as famous? (probably only in the USA). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lester_Holt Anyway, he plays bass for 'Band from TV' fronted by Hugh Laurie. Yeah, I know, getting a bit tenuous now . . . Quote
barneyg42 Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 I was at this....Hammond bass,May on keys, Clarkson (useless) on drums. To be fair he only just learnt drums for this, Hamster and May both been playing for years. Was a cracking night, met the guys, had a great chat with Clarkson...top bloke! Quote

He also played(still does?) in a band called,I think, Captain Howdy. Quote
louisthebass Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 I've had the privilege of playing bass alongside James May's brother a couple of times when he's stood in for the drummer in the band I play with. Good drummer! Quote
Gareth Hughes Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Gary Sinise plays bass - and has done in an episode of 'CSI: New York'. Quote
great top gear moment that. Jezza reminds me of a drummer I used to play with as a younger man who we used to call Dr Who and (on occasion) Corporal Jones if you watch them doing the "drill" in Dads Army youll see what I mean. that Drummer went on to be Sh*t hot player and totally showed us up for our sneeers, so the story has a happy end. I dont think Jez can say the same Quote
3rdUncle Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Ruud Gullit I believe. Can't seem to find a pic online though. Quote
