pantherairsoft
Does anyone have experience of having a custom board built? I'm currently using 2 Diago Tourman boards side by side, it's huge. I'm looking at down sizing slightly, however I won't be able to cope on just one Tourman due to the bloody stupid size of Moogerfooger pedals... Damn them. I'd be looking at a board around 52" by 20"... Lift off lid type (like Diago board), NOT something that has to be taken out of/put back in it's case each time. Anyone had anything built? Suggestions? Ideas of cost. I've fires off emails to Diago & to Flight Case Warehouse already, no answer as of yet.

Nyl
ha, that is a fair old size for a pedal board, but as you say those moogs ain't small. Have you not considered making one? wood, screws, paint, velco, hinges and fixings. I started making one but then halfway through just bought a Diago
pantherairsoft
Thought about making one, but building a case is no easy feat... I've had a very competitive quote from flight case warehouse to this spec... I have a few other places to investigate too.
janmaat
DIY - if you are really good at it, you might start doing it as a business. If you have any other business, your're better off buying from somebody else. If you're up for doing it for the love of the action, go for it. pantherairsoft
A custom build from Mal Chapman of GR cases - He build most of the custom board for GigRig customers that have the huge switching systems as well as for some complex set ups for big touring musicians. Its a huge 45" x 22" 2 tier board, built around a specific layout for my effects, powering etc etc.

xgsjx
Looking forward to seeing this. Does it have a retractable seat so you can use both feet?
pantherairsoft
Lol. No fancy lights etc. There are enough LED's flashing on the board to illuminate most cities anyway. There's space under the bridge to add lighting though (and a little space for future expansion ). The retractable seat! Damn. That would of been a good idea. A drum stool will need to surfice It will be heavy. Close to that of a heavy ish cab. We estimate 26-28kg fully loaded. I have a collapsible trolly for it though. Despite its weight, it'll still be more suitable than using 2 boards of almost the same size. Its one journey up and down stairs rather than 2 for a start. Si will tell you... Our studio is hardly in a suitable place for my set up!

cheddatom
If you're going custom wouldn't wheels be a good idea? I might weigh my board, it feels heavier than my peavey 15" combo!
pantherairsoft
Mal wont put them in a board. He's experienced structural issues with them and they increase costs a fair bit. His suggestion is to buy a foldable sack trolley with pneumatic wheels, which will be far better than casters etc on a board. I have done this - its very well made and cost £25! cheddatom
oooh, that would be useful, I need to get one of those!
pantherairsoft
Picked it up on eBay. £18 plus £7 shipping. Folds flat, weighs next to nothing and has an 80kg load limit. Have been using with the Diago boards & our drum hardware case for the last few gigs. Perfect. You can get them from place like screw fix/machine Mart etc, but much cheaper online. Gunsfreddy2003
Sweet looking board that one. I am really interested in the Gigrig switching stuff - could you give a ball park cost of the gigrig switching unit and flightcase and any idea of weight too? Gigrig 14 Pro sell second hand for around £450-500, not cheap but if you consider all you can do with it is well worth the money in my opinion. I think the custom flightcase was £200 when I bought it. Once you have the Gigrig and all the pedals mounted on the board, it's heavy but manageable, you can easily carry the board in one hand and the bass on the other.
