GreeneKing
Well not peculiar but certainly different. I finished off the Warmoth P bass DIY project this morning and I'm more than pleased with the result. 54 Body in Tung oiled Corina with a birdseye maple jazz neck finished with Truoil. The pickup is a Wizard Thumper, tuners Hipshot Ultralites with a D-Tuner and the bridge is a Gotoh. The different bit is the 1st single pickup ACG filter pre-amp. There's volume, low and high filter stacks. The filter pre works very well indeed and I will bring the bass along to the NW bash so folk can try it out. The 2nd P is my modified Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub with Villex pickup and tone booster. So that's Volume, high tone, mid tone and the 3 boost positions. Different too but a great performer. Stewart
Very nice - that's a lovely looking neck. I'm not over-keen on the oiled Korina (I think that's what it is?) body, but that's just personal taste - I bet it sounds fabulous. There's something special about a bass where you've had control over the parts used (never mind the assembly) Did you assemble everything with the option of fitting a pickguard if you wanted to? Anyway, I hope you're very happy together!
GreeneKing
I did assemble it all, not really very difficult. The finishing is the hardest part really. A pickguard never entered the equation to be honest. I wanted a rear routed P that was different and I've certainly got that. The neck is quite chunky for a Jazz neck as Warmoth necks traditionally are but I'm fine with that.
MythSte
You'll be bringing this to the NW bash tomorrow, fantastic! Two preamps that i really want to try!
paul, the
It's beautiful. I do love a personal bass. Where do people get their ideas for this sort of thing? Is it planned out or do new ideas just pop in their heads? My visual creativity is zilch .
clauster
Another fine example of a Warmoth build.
Sibob
very cool indeed! Is that their standard birdseye maple? Or did you pay more for a higher grade? Si Edited March 16, 2008 by Sibob
BassBod
Interesting bass - do you find the Warmouth neck heavy? I heard that the extra steel rods can make the neck a fair bit heavier than a trad fender? Those filter preamps..hmm BB
niceguyhomer
An astonishing bass that Peter, congrats.
GreeneKing
Thanks for the kind comments. The birdseye maple is their standard wood and no it's not at all neck heavy - honestly (I can't get on with even slightly neck heavy basses). The body is very light too. Rayman
Had a play on it yesterday, very nice bass indeed, that body looks even better in the flesh.
