bassist_lewis
Hello DB-ers I've been playing DB for about 9 months and i'm looking for some slightly easier strings to play, any suggestions? (my upright is electric so they have to be metal) L
TheRev
Are you sure you need metal core strings? Most EUBs will have piezo pickups which will work with both synthetic and steel core strings. If it does have to be steel core, then try Spirocore weichs or Corelli 370 medium tension. If you have a piezo pickup, then there are loads of synthetic strings to choose from. Obligatos are pretty light, as are Velvet and Innovation Honeys. If you want to go super light, then a rockabilly string like Silver Slaps should do the trick. daflewis
Another thing a lot of guys do (including me) is to buy a solo set (which are normally tuned a tone higher) and tune them to concert pitch, this gives a nice low tension. The down side is that they're not as loud, but if it's on a stick that doesn't matter anyway...
timbo1978
Hey there, just wondering which strings you've settled on? I'm looking for strings which are easier to play due to extra long gigs making my left arm seize up. Tim
