Hit&Run Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 The E string on my fretless appears to make a buzzing noise quite like fret buzz when I 'fret' a note on it. It doesn't make this noise when the open string is played open, and none of the other 3 strings make this noise at all. Seeing as the bass doesn't have frets, I find this quite disconcerting. The strings are rotosound RS55 solo bass pressurewound. So, what's the thinking? Truss rod tweak? Faulty string? Thanks in advance. Quote
paul, the Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Are you sure the frets aren't invisible? If you can feel them there, you probably just can't see them I recommend taking the bass to a luthier to remove the invisible frets. Quote

bass_ferret Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Fretless basses are no different from any other bass and they will buzz if the action is too low or the truss rod is too tight just like a fretted bass. Quote
Kev Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 change the string, if that dont work, bang it down to a luthier if you dont want to mess with the truss rod yourself Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Try raising that string a little, see if that sorts it. Not much to lose trying that. Quote
Jase Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Maybe check your nut and give the neck a little bit of relief. Quote
