alyctes Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Back up for sale or trade. Kramer The Duke This is a four-string passive headless cricket-bat, black, aluminium neck with wood inserts, made around 1984 IIRC and with some scars to prove it. Bought from dangerboy in January 2011; original sale thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...7&hl=kramer Solid and compact; it feels very robust indeed. Scale is 32". It takes single-ball strings, unlike some headless designs. Single pickup, nice tone; very punchy, with a lot of zing and a lot of sustain. Frets have some wear but there's plenty left. I upgraded the bridge (to a black Gotoh 201). For sale because I'm not playing it; that band split up, and while it's great to travel with, I also have an Ashbory. With the Gotoh, £225 plus carriage. alyctes Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 Good point Cheers.
Pictures?
The first five came from dangerboy (I hope he doesn't mind my using them), and are as I received it (with the original bridge): Then there are the horrible pics I took earlier in the week I'll get decent pics up once the light is better. The first one has a reflection of the camera showing The smudge on the Gotoh bridge is sticky stuff from a label. I've removed it since these were taken (another reason to put better ones up...). alyctes Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 And to my great surprise, fernandobicho is also selling one here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/160896-kramer-the-duke-80s-vintage-aluminiun-neck-bass/ Anyone inspired by his thread could do worse than to have a look at a cheaper alternative
alyctes Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 Bump for change of mind - back up for sale or trade.
sussexbassman Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 What's the overall length and weight of the bass?
alyctes Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Overall length I measure to be 97cm (approx 38.3 inches). It fits a guitar bag. Weight I'm not sure of and can't measure easily (no scales). It feels very compact and chunky, but it's small so the actual weight is not great. I think it weighs about the same as my Yamaha BBN5, if that helps. It's certainly a lot lighter than my Vox Standard, but then almost everything is I'll try to sort out a proper weight tomorrow.
alyctes Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Weight is about 8.5lb, according to two scales I tried it on today (one a bathroom scales, and one a 25-lb range tension-type).
alyctes Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Bump. Currently in need of an E string. I'm considering Sandmanning it (two strings tuned a fifth apart and played with a slide and pick). Its tone would suit that.
