Kev
not sure if this is the right place or not, but i figured it would be viewed more here than in the repair section, so here goes i wanna upgrade my peavey grind 6. the bass is gorgoeus, to look at and to play, but the tone leaves a bit to be desired, and sounds definitavly dull compared to my fender. any ideas what should be done to it to make it sound brighter, punchier, and generally more active sounding without nescesarrily ( spelling) being active?? should i replace pickups or put a active preamp in?? suggestions? Machines
Changing the preamp first would be easier, since it may be hard to find pickups that will fit without further modification to the bass.
d-basser
the pickups are emg 40 size (yes i know these are 5 string but its a skinny bass) Wizard can make you custom passive replacements but it will be £100 a pop. I am looking to upgrade the same bass, my plan is either wizard pups or EMG 40P and 40DC with a Jretro or ACG pre
