basshead56
Hi guys, Now that I've sorted out how I'm gonna run my effects loop, I'm wondering about power supply units. Is there one power supply I can use that will power my Boss Tu-2 tuner, Fender Sublime bass fuzz, Tech21 VT Bass Deluxe (all 9v, though VT Bass Deluxe manual says 100mA minimum) and my Markbass Super Synth which i think is 12v? For example, would this be suitable, considering I'm on a budget at the mo Not sure about mA, voltages etc etc Any help appreciated. If anyone has one that'll do the job they want to sell me, I'd be happy to chat Cheers, Col Edited September 6, 2011 by basshead56
aldude
Good luck finding a power supply that puts out both 9V and 12V at a high enough rating - I have a Super Synth and I run that off it's own 12V supply, and power the rest with one 9V. The Super Synth requires 450mA IIRC which is a hell of a lot from a single power supply output. For everything else 9V, there's this: http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/
paul_5
+1. you can put as much current (mA) through a pedal as you like - the stuff that isn't used gets sent back out to the mains. What you can't do is to exceed the voltage rating. I'm in a similar predicament myself - loads of 9v stuff, a 12 V 1.5A valve overdrive unit and an old 24v EHX bass microsynth. 3 plug for the board, and one each for the pre and power amps. 5 plugs for a bass rig? sounds good though. woodster
Speak to James at Diago..... http://www.diago.co.uk/pedal-power/powerst...n/overview.html
xgsjx
I'd double check first, but your 9v pedals may well accept 12v. Moog pedals will run on anything from 9-15v & I run everything on 11.5v.
Doddy
Check out the Johnny Shredfreak power supply,by all accounts it's the same as the Diego but way cheaper. I run all my 9 volt pedals with on-the ones that need more all came with their own plugs,so I use those.
nash
Do voodoo labs do a 9v and 12v supply? Isn't there one for sale on here now?
eddiehoffmann
There are a quite a few power supplies out there that would do different combinations of 9V, 12V, 18V and AC and DC. The thing about the Mark Bass synth thing though is that it needs at least 350mA. Seems like you'll need to use a separate power supply for this baby. badgerific
T rex fuel tank classic seems like it'll do what you want.
basshead56
Ok, having thought about it, I may just run all the 9v's from a boss PSU (through the tuner) and power the 9v VT Bass and 12v Super Synth using their own dedicated supplies. What do you guys think?
pantherairsoft
I power my supersynth, 5 pedals requiring isolated supples, one 18v and lots of reverse polarity all off a GigRig generator. It's a damn powerful beast! Some adapters to up power consumption are expensive but the system is great. I did have a small problem with my Super Synth, due to the draw, but Dan at GigRig, modded an adapter for me free of charge to get the pedal working fine. As I'm selling my SuperSynth, if you dingo down that route, I'll sell you my adapter for the MB. Shep

pantherairsoft
Yeah I'm still giggling about it too! lol. Gigrig Generator FTW though! (just to 'try' and bring it back on track)
basshead56
A Dingo took my power supply! Thanks so far guys. Shep, I should point out that I have a psu for the Supersynth-the one that came with it when I bought it. So would a Boss PSA240/30 through the TU-2 power the Bass VT Deluxe?
