Think he does a load of hammer-on's down the neck. Saw him play it live a couple of times, and that's what it looked like to me, but didn't really sound like the record.

With both bass and treble on full, apparently. Lot`s of people think JJs tone is all treble, but there is a surprising amount of bass in it, it`s just that his attack, near the bridge btw, and the legendery knackered speaker bring the treble to the immediate notice.

That has to be one of [u]the[/u] best bass intros ever.

Another great bass intro is when JJ blasts his P-Bass on "Nice 'n' Sleazy". Fantastic stuff. JJ Burnel was the reason I took up playing bass!!

An awesome bass sound - it's like a bad-tempered old dog growling behind the couch. I love this performance of it, particularly Hugh's comments before and after.



This is another of my fave JJ lines - the intro and outro on this are fantastic!

Ok.The No More Heroes intro is the one that usually gets the "How?" question.Hanging Around (one of my fave basslines,btw).As mentioned,JJ's sound is much discussed,but basically badly resprayed 67 Fender P,HiWatt 50w guitar head,knackered Marshall 4x12,knackered Marshall 2x15 and a shedload of compression.
